Operation Instructions – Petrol Wake Winch.

• Make sure winch has oil and fresh unleaded petrol.
• Find a suitable body of water, not less than 1m deep and 100m long.
• Choose a sturdy anchor point for the winch, like a tree or well sunken post.
• Make sure the winch is level, you can also take the wheels off if needed.
• Remove the metal handle.
• All riders must wear a buoyancy aid and helmet as minimum protection.
• Ear protection is advised for operators.
• Operator must be familiar with all controls.
• Remove the pin from the spool and walk the line out. Pull continuously and smoothly to avoid overrun.
• Replace the pin before start up. Do NOT run the engine with the pin out.
• To start the engine, turn the cut off switch to ON, turn on fuel and choke, make sure throttle is on minimum (tortoise). Pull the pull start and when the engine fires turn off choke immediately.
• Take up the slack in the line at low revs to avoid a snatchy start.
• Give clear pre determined hand signals between operator and rider.
• With adult boarders you can go straight to full throttle if technique is good, for beginners and smaller riders build up power more slowly.
• As soon as the boarder finishes, crashes or lets go of the handle, shut the throttle down immediately and switch off the engine.
• Operator should always shut the throttle down before the thicker wake rope reaches the winch fairlead.
• If you are the rider – if things go wrong – LET GO!
• Observe the warning stickers and do not put fingers or any other body parts near moving parts on the winch.
• Do not touch the hot engine or exhaust.
• Do not hold or get entangled in winch line. Only hold the handle.
• Do not overload the system.
• Do not allow smoking or naked flames near the petrol engine.
• Only use new clean fuel.
• Minimum operator age 18 years.
• Seek your own activity insurance.
