Before you go out kitesurfing, it is a good idea to check a couple of forecasts. It is important to be aware of changes in the wind speed, direction and sea state.  Fronts like the one above are rare but this is a real photograph of a supercell storm front at Camber.

  WHERE CAN I KITESURF IN CAMBER AND GREATSTONE?
Kitesurfing at Camber Sands is restricted to the Eastern end of the beach all year round at present. Drive through Camber from the Rye direction and just beyond the caravan park there is a shingle car park on your right. At present there are no restrictions at Greatstone but get the inside knowledge by speaking to the locals. Remember if there is no-one out it is for a good reason! If conditions are good for kitesurfing there will be people riding!

Camber and Greatstone are unique, not only for the sandy flat beaches and world class kiting conditions but also the fact that these 2 great spots are only 15minutes drive away from each other.  This ultimately means that you can kite with an onshore breeze any direction apart from North Westerly.

VITAL BEACH INFO
Camber Sands (Jury's Gap) is unuseable for up to 3 hours either side of high tide due to the water coming right up to the sea defences and shingle bank. Remember Camber faces South, so for safe (side/cross-shore and onshore) conditions you need any direction with South included. i.e. ,ESE, SE, SSE,  S, SSW, SW, WSW. A true westerly wind at Camber tends to be gusty (up and down).
  At Greatsone the beach faces East, so any NNE, NE, ENE, E, ESE, SE, SSE, directions are good. It is advisable to leave at least 1.5 hours either side of high tide before going kitesurfing, as there is very little beach space left at high tide. A true cross-shore wind (coming directly from the left or the right when facing out to sea) can be gusty.
