A surf board leash attaches to your board at one end and to your ankle on the other. When you fall off your board in the surf you can get it back by pulling on the leash.

A good tip is to detach your leash from your ankle when you leave the water, you can wrap it around near the fins and fasten the velcro cuff. Then you won't trip over!
